Fire Burger

Welcome back to the latest incarnation of unResolution Month’s Hamburger Week.  This week we have already covered how to make the perfect hamburger and recipes for pizza and BBQ burgers, all of which are good burgers to know.

But sometimes I want a burger that really speaks to who I am as a person.  I’m a bit spicy, a bit wild if you will.  There’s only one thing that will satisfy my craving for a great burger and tell the world who I really am: a fire burger.

Okay, okay, in all seriousness, I am a big fan of spicy food so when I was cooking burgers for unResolution month, I knew I wanted to make some with serious heat.  Loaded with hot sauce, sriracha, jalapenos, and spicy pepper jack cheese, I definitely met my goal.  Every bite is delicious agony.  The type you’ll come back to again and again and again.  Promise.

Oh, and did I mention there’s bacon?

Fire Burger Recipe

There’s no trick to this burger.  Just follow the perfect hamburger recipe, cook up some jalapenos, and get to eating.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 jalapenos, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne
  • 8 strips bacon
  • 2 pounds hamburger
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 4 buns
  • Mayonnaise
  • Choulula hot sauce
  • Sriracha hot sauce

In a skillet over medium high heat, add the olive oil, jalapenos, onion, a pinch of salt and pepper, and the cayenne.  Cook until the onions are soft, about 8 minutes.  Empty the skillet and the cook the bacon until it is nice and crispy.  (Of course, if you’re not worried at all about being healthy, you can cook the bacon first and use the bacon fat to cook the veggies.)

Then, in your (cast iron) skillet, follow the recipe for How to Make the Perfect Hamburger.

Finally, construct the burgers by coating one side of the bun with mayo, then adding the burger, jalapeno/onion mix, the Choulula and sriracha.  Then eat and enjoy!  (If your mouth isn’t too too hot!)
