Well, Fried Week is over and now it’s time for Dessert Week, seven days of ooey, gooey desserts designed to tickle the tastebuds and delight the senses. Let’s get things started with
Oreo Ice Cream Pie
This dish is remarkably simple since it’s more of an assembly than actual cooking. Everything can be store bought. Then all you have to do is dress the dessert up as much or as little as you want. The toppings I list below are my personal favorite. I’ll let you decide yours.
Assembling Oreo Ice Cream Pie
You can definitely use a store bought Oreo pie shell if you want. They’re simple and pretty good, if a little grainy. If you do that, then there is absolutely no cooking involved in this dish at all! However, I have included the recipe for how to make your own shell in case you are so inclined, about which you can find more if you hop over to this site. After that, scoop in the ice cream and top. Then dig in!
You will need:
- 1 bag of Oreo Cookies
- 1 stick of butter
- Ice cream
- Caramel sauce
- Cinnamon jelly beans
- Whipped cream
- Sliced Almonds
Preheat oven to 350.
To make the crust, twist off the the chocolate cookies from the bag of Oreos. (You only need 1 chocolate part per Orea.) Put them in a food processor and pulse until they are the consistency of sand. Pour into a pie tin.
Melt a stick of butter and then pour that over the cookies. Mix together to make a lumpy paste. Smooth out over the pie tin and bake for 10 minutes.
Let the crust cool.
Then add your favorite toppings. Mine are listed above. Just start with the ice cream and go wild from there.
Enjoy!
